We are currently recruiting for a Graduate Trainee Financial Adviser / Financial Planner

Location: Christchurch, Dorset
Salary: Up to £30,000, depending on experience
Hours: Full-time (or part-time considered)

The Role

Join us and start building a career in financial planning, with one-to-one mentoring from a Certified and Chartered Financial Planner, fully funded professional qualifications and a clear route to becoming a Chartered Financial Planner yourself within a few years.

This role is ideal for a new or fairly recent graduate in a financial planning, finance, law, accounting or similar field looking for a clear pathway to a career in a relationship-led boutique financial planning firm where quality, client care and work-life balance are genuinely valued.

The role will initially involve providing mostly administrative support to the team, as the best way to learn the business from the ground up. As your experience grows, you will be given increasing levels of responsibility and the opportunity to move into a paraplanner role. Once qualified to Diploma status, you will become authorised as an adviser and start to look after clients.

Throughout your time, you will work closely with our Managing Director, a Chartered Financial Planner, author and financial planning podcast host, learning our approach to lifestyle financial planning and client care.

Key Responsibilities

Initially you will be:

  • Managing the administration for every stage of the client’s journey with us, from their initial enquiry through to regular progress meetings.

  • Liaising with clients via email, over the telephone and face to face.

  • Creating client fact find documents and liaising with pension and investment providers to request and record information.

  • Processing and implementing new product applications.

  • Assisting with the continual improvement of our systems & processes.

  • Providing office administration and assisting with other projects within the business including marketing, events, research and reporting.

  • Start studying towards Diploma level.


At the paraplanning level:

  • Acquiring relevant client, product provider and fund manager information for analysis.

  • Completing analytic work, including cash flow forecasting and investment analysis.

  • Shaping recommendations by discussing proposals with the financial planner.

  • Writing Recommendation Reports for delivery by the financial planner.

  • Supporting the planner to manage, implement and report on tax year end planning.

  • Achieve Diploma status.


At the adviser level:

  • Once qualified, start taking responsibility for some client relationships.

  • Continue studying to achieve Chartered Financial Planner status.

Skills and Experience

We are looking for someone with:

  • A minimum qualification of degree level involving strong numeracy and literacy skills (possibly law, accounting, management, finance)

  • A desire to learn and develop yourself.

  • Emotional intelligence, warmth and the ability to build trust with clients.

  • Excellent listening, communication and interpersonal skills.

  • Be highly organised, methodical and analytical.

  • A proactive, motivated approach, with the ability to work independently and collaboratively.

  • Confidence using technology and an interest in helping us improve systems and processes.

Working Pattern

All client meetings are held in our Christchurch office, and the successful candidate will work closely with our Managing Director and wider team. For this reason, the role will be primarily office based.

We are, however, happy to offer flexible working hours and will consider both full-time and part-time applicants.
